In a recent meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his eagerness to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the near future. Putin conveyed his well wishes to Modi through Jaishankar and indicated that their next meeting might occur in relation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Additionally, Putin is anticipated to travel to New Delhi for the BRICS leaders’ summit scheduled for September.
The Russian president underscored the strengthening trade relationship between Russia and India, highlighting the increased supply of fertilizers to India as an example. He emphasized that Moscow is prepared to further augment these supplies, reflecting the expanding economic ties between the two nations.
During his two-day visit to Moscow, Jaishankar also engaged in discussions with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The talks centered on enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Manturov mentioned the potential for Russia to localize nuclear fuel production within India, suggesting a deepening of technological collaboration.
As part of his visit, Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Their discussions are expected to cover a range of topics, including bilateral relations and current regional and global developments, further cementing the diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
