LG Electronics is eyeing significant expansion into robotic actuators and business-to-business appliances as new avenues for growth, with expectations of securing substantial orders from major global tech firms. The company has crafted actuators that are lighter and more efficient, aiming for competitive pricing, and is gearing up for mass production. Currently, LG is engaged in talks with several top technology companies and anticipates confirming its first major order in the near future.
Earlier this year, LG introduced its LG Axium actuator brand, leveraging its expertise in motors, drive controls, and component design honed through its home appliance ventures. By the year’s end, LG plans to establish an automated production line for actuators at its Changwon facility. The company foresees a rising demand for actuators as physical AI and humanoid robotics gain traction, particularly around 2030. LG’s strategy includes deploying humanoid robots at its Tennessee plant and Changwon smart factory, with future expansion into household applications as safety technologies advance.
Concurrently, LG is bolstering its B2B appliance sector. Both its built-in appliance and commercial laundry divisions have experienced over 40% annual revenue growth over the past three years. In Europe, LG is enhancing its specialist sales team, expanding its premium built-in brands, and aims to increase its product displays to 3,000 outlets by the end of the year.
In addition to these efforts, LG is advancing its commercial laundry business by introducing larger-capacity machines and fostering partnerships in Southeast Asia. In Europe, the company is promoting high-efficiency appliances, aligning with its ambition to become a leading home appliance provider in the region by 2030.
