Hotel Okura will launch its first domestic resort, Okura Resort Hakone Gora, in 2029. The development is a partnership with Nishimatsu Construction, based on an agreement finalized in July 2025.
Located in Hakone Gora—one of Japan’s most visited hot spring regions, drawing nearly 20 million tourists annually—the resort will emphasize natural scenery and Japanese hospitality.
Designed by Gwenael Nicolas, the property’s “Forest Hideaway” concept includes 58 rooms, each with a private open-air bath using Owakudani spring water. Facilities will also include indoor baths, saunas, teppanyaki dining, and a bar lounge.
The 2029 opening marks a major expansion of the Okura brand into luxury resort hospitality.
